I am a photojournalism master’s candidate at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse, New York. In December 2019, I graduated from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, as a double major in digital media and psychology.
Growing up on a farm in Schaller, Iowa, has led me to be interested in producing work about agriculture and telling stories related to farming. I also have an interest in producing stories about women and femininity.
I have experience in reporting, audio storytelling, photographic storytelling and some video storytelling; and am proficient with DSLR and mirrorless camera systems, Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, Audition and Premiere Pro.
In summer of 2017, I interned in Mossel Bay, South Africa, with Africa Media, a conservation media outlet. There I photographed endangered wildlife species and various reserves and parks documenting their conservation practices. I continued in this line of photography the following summer at the Minnesota Zoo. I photographed approximately 200 species and archived them by species name and location in the zoo.
While at Newhouse, I have worked on various projects in the Syracuse community and learned about different lighting techniques in the studio and on location, and assisted in directing a short film. In addition, I have shot events for news publications.
I am available for work in Central New York and occasionally, in Northwest, Iowa.
